What’s new in Luma

Everything we ship, in the order we shipped it. The screens are the real app, recorded on an iPhone; the scribbles are ours.

Beta 1.2

Lists together, Luma at a glance

Share a whole list and run it together. Widgets you set up per list, your day on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, a week worth sharing, and to-dos that remember to remind you.

Lists you share

Share a whole list in Tasks with up to five people. Everyone on it can add, edit, tick and delete its to-dos, and one tick is done for everyone.

A ticked to-do says who did it: Done by Ana, or Done by you. The faces next to a list's name tell you which of your lists are shared.

you'll always know who did it

Anyone on the list can give a to-do to someone: it reads For Ana, or For you, and they get a heads-up. Nudges are per to-do now, sent to whoever has it.

this one's yours

When a list piles up, 3 completed · Clear at its end tidies it in one tap, with four seconds to undo. What you clear goes to Past (it used to be Archived), grouped by day or by list, where you can select many at once and restore or delete them together.

four seconds to change your mind

  • In the composer, Section is now List.
  • Delete a list from its ••• menu, or hold it in the List picker. An empty list goes without asking; a shared one tells its people.

the grocery list finally has a home

Widgets you set up

The To-dos widget now shows the list you pick. Touch and hold it, choose Edit Widget, and pick a list (or all of them) and what to show: what's open, what's due today, or what you finished. Put two side by side and one can follow work while the other follows home. Tick right from the widget.

The new Agenda widget is the month and your next days in one glance: today's one thing first, then reminders and to-dos by the hour. Quick Actions opens a new to-do, reminder or note in one tap.

Your day, on the Lock Screen

Turn on Today on Lock Screen in Settings › Notifications and your day follows you out of the app: your habits, your one thing and your streak, in a Live Activity and in the Dynamic Island. It updates as you tick, and it clears itself at the end of the day.

no need to open the app

A week worth sharing

Every Sunday, Luma puts your week together: a bar for each day, the to-dos, habits and one things you finished, your streak and the next milestone. Share my week turns it into a card for wherever you like.

look at that streak

Remember your to-dos, up to three times

The to-do digest can come in the morning, at midday and in the evening: pick any of them in Settings › Notifications. Each one reads differently, leads with what's due that day, and only comes when something is still open.

morning, midday, evening. or just one

And the small things

  • If yesterday's one thing didn't get done, Home keeps it under today's, marked as still open, instead of letting it disappear.
  • To-dos can have a due date, and a time if you want one. Both are optional. You get a notification when it's due: at its time, or in the morning if it has none.
  • Ticking a to-do clears its priority color, so finished things stop asking for attention.

and a few we polished

Sharing that answers back. Invite turns into Sent, and everyone shows where they stand.

Your link, still there. Copy turns into a tick, and the link says how long it works.

Your week in Luma: 11 wins this week on an orange card, with a bar for each day.

Your week, in bars. What you finished, your streak, the next milestone.

Luma's notifications stacked on the Lock Screen: today's one thing, Finish the Q3 deck, then Emi giving you a to-do, and three more from Luma.

Notifications that sound like you. Your one thing, who gave you what, what's due.

Beta 1.1

Luma, together

Share a to-do, a reminder, a habit or a note with up to five people. Plus profile photos, usernames, reminders on your own schedule, a Trash for notes, a kinder first five minutes, and everything you write encrypted before it leaves your phone.

Do it together

Anything you keep in Luma can now be shared with up to five people: to-dos, reminders, habits and notes. Invite someone by their @username, by email, or with a link.

A shared to-do is done when everyone has ticked it. Until then the row shows who already has and who you are waiting on, and if someone is taking their time, a nudge is one tap away.

see who's in, nudge who isn't

The shared row stays yours. Everyone else gets it in their own list.

Shared reminders ring on every member's phone, and an Urgent one is a real alarm for all of you. Sharing is part of Luma Pro.

Habits, as a group

A shared habit keeps two streaks: your own, and the group's, which only counts the days everybody showed up. The faces on the row tell you who has done today's.

the group streak only counts if everyone did it

better with friends

Notes you write together

A shared note is edited by everyone at once. You see each person's caret in their own color, live, and when two of you type in the same place nobody's words are lost.

that's Emi, typing from another phone

A face and a name

Add a profile photo and pick a @username. The username is how friends find you; the photo is what they see on everything you share. New accounts choose both while setting up, and if you already have one, Luma asks once.

say hi

Edit Profile in Luma, with a round profile photo ringed in the accent color.

Reminders on your schedule

Repeat has a third option, Custom: choose the days of the week, then as many times a day as you need. A few days a week, twice a day, in one reminder. Custom is part of Luma Pro.

any days, any hours

A Trash for notes

Deleting a note is no longer forever. Hold a note, carry it down to the trash and let go. It waits in the Trash until you restore it or delete it for good.

The card tilts as you carry it, because it should feel like you are holding something.

hold, drag, drop

A kinder first five minutes

Setting up Luma now teaches by doing. You log your first habit with a real tap, then learn the one gesture worth knowing: hold a tick to undo it.

A new step sets up a daily to-do digest: one notification with what is still open, at the moment you pick, and only on days when something is. You can move it later in Settings, under Notifications.

hold to undo. that's the whole lesson

Private, even from us

Your titles, notes, habit and section names and your one thing are now encrypted on your phone before they sync. On our servers they are unreadable: we keep the scrambled text and a fingerprint of your key, never the key itself.

we can't read it. good.

  • One key per account, kept in your iCloud Keychain, so your own devices can read your data and nobody else can.
  • What you share is the exception: it is stored unencrypted, because the people in it, their notifications and the invite emails have to be able to show it.
  • If a phone cannot find your key, Luma stops syncing and asks you to turn on iCloud Keychain. It never makes a second key.
  • The first time you open this version, Luma uploads everything you already had again, encrypted.

And the small things

  • Hold to undo works in the Habits tab too, the same as in onboarding.
  • A bell on Home collects invites and what your people have been up to.
  • The to-do digest has its own screen in Settings, next to the habit nudges.
  • You can add your photo while setting up, or skip it and do it later in Edit Profile.
